Vacation Crime Prevention Tips

Contact the NLCRPD for a Vacation Home Check – This is a free service to residents of the NLCRPD primary jurisdiction. Wildlife Safety Tip – Bear Awareness

The Northern Lancaster County Regional Police has received reports of a black bears roaming in northeastern Clay Township. The bears were observed in a wooded area near Klinefeltersville Road. One of the animals was later trapped and removed from the area in a relocation effort. Before you come face-to-face with a bear, make sure you read these tips.

Internet Safety

The Internet is an area that can pose a very real threat to children. The anonymity of the ‘Net offers adults the chance to pose as children, then try to set up a face-to-face meeting. Young teens may also be lured into virtual relationships with older adults that may result in actual encounters. Here’s what parents can do.

Crime Prevention Tip – Date Rape

REDUCE THE RISK OF DATE RAPE

  • Monitor how your drink is prepared at a bar.
  • Don’t drink from a punch bowl.
  • Don’t accept drinks from an open container.
  • Don’t leave your drink unattended.
  • Don’t share or exchange drinks.
  • At a bar or club, accept drinks only from the bartender, waiter, or waitress.
  • Don’t take beverages from someone you do not know well or trust.
