PA Emergency Management Agency-Winter Safety

The temperature is dropping and in some places, it’s starting to snow – December is here. December brings with it hazardous weather, driving woes and holiday fires. This issue of the ReadyPA Monthly highlights the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s feature on winter driving which includes tips to help properly navigate winter roads.

December also brings the holiday season. Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, New Year’s, or any other December celebration, the Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner would like you to have a safe and joyous occasion. This article features safety tips for holiday trees, lights, and candles. Winter fire safety tips that are not specific to the holidays are also offered.

Do you know the definition of a snow squall? The State Meteorologist has provided an overview on snow squall and a new Snow Squall Warning alert that the weather service will be issuing to motorists beginning in 2018.
